CLAREMONT, Calif.—As the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team finishes the end of the semester with final projects, papers, and exams, several team members took a break on Friday April 26, to spend some time on the football field with third graders from Williard Elementary.
The third graders from the Pasadena, Calif., elementary school visited campus to get an early look at what college holds in store and they caught a glimpse of what it is like to be a part of CMS Athletics.
Members of the Stags football team were joined by Madison Gebhard of the women's swimming and diving team and Emily Gran of the women's water polo team. They started the afternoon with the students, eating at Collins Dining Hall for lunch. Afterwards, the group was given a tour of the CMS athletic facilities.
The students and CMS student-athletes were joined by CMS Football Alumni Larry O'Brien '86 – a wide receiver – who set up the event for Williard Elementary. The third graders finished the day on the field getting some hands on teaching from the players and a well-deserved recess.
The last day of finals for the Stags is May 17 with the report date for Fall Camp set for August 21.
