CLAREMONT, Calif. – After a week in which he averaged 18.5 points and six rebounds in a pair of wins, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps senior guard Cody Mivshek has been named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 3-9.
Mivshek led the Stags to wins over La Verne and Caltech as the team improved to 4-0 in SCIAC play and have now won five in a row overall. In the team's 73-67 win at La Verne and 84-70 home win against Caltech, he totaled a team-high 37 points and 12 rebounds. Against La Verne he had a season-high 21 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 10-of-13 shooting from the free-throw line. He also added 16 points in the Stags' win over Caltech.
Over the course of the two games, Mivshek shot 60 percent (12-20) from the field and 79 percent (11-14) from the line. On the season, Mivshek leads the team in scoring (11.9 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg).
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
