REDLANDS, CA -- The Stag golf team showed much improvement from the first SCIAC contest by defeating the field with a score of 301. Redlands finished one stroke behind with 302 and Occidental rounded out the top-three with a 304. La Verne and Whittier scored a 307, Pomona scored a 321 and Cal Lutheran finished with a 324.
Tain Lee (SO, San Juan Capistrano) had a fabulous day on the green, shooting -3 on the day and finishing one stroke behind the leader, Andrew Larkin from Occidental College. Kyle Casella (SR, Tiburon) also made the top-ten by shooting a 76 (+4). Matt Manotoc (SR, Manila, Philippines) shot a 77 (+5) and John Morris (SR, Santa Rosa) rounded out the top-20 with a 78 (+6).
In addition to winning the SCIAC #2, the Stags earned a #13 ranking in the Nike Golf Division III polls. #9 La Verne, #12 Redlands and #20 Cal Lutheran are also in the top-25 poll.
The Stags will look to use the win as a stepping stone for their next SCIAC contest, the SCIAC #3 in at Los Serranos Golf Course. First tee is scheduled for Sunday, March 7 at 11:30 AM.
