ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team earned the automatic qualification from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and is poised to compete in the NCAA Championships May 10-13. Forty one teams and five individuals for a total of 210 athletes will compete in the championships.
The championships will be held at Midvale Country Club and Mendon Golf Club, in Rochester, N.Y., and will be hosted by St. John Fisher College and the Monroe County Sports Commission. The Midvale Country Club is a par 72 course with yardage of 6,632 while the Mendon Golf Club is a par 71 course at 6,645 yards. The Stags will tee off on Tuesday, May 10 starting at 12 p.m. EDT on the Mendon course and then on Wednesday, May 11 at 8 a.m. EDT on the Midvale course. CMS is paired with LaGrange and Luther on both of the first two days.
After 36 holes, the field will be trimmed to the top-15 teams, plus the top-5 individuals not playing on of the top-15 teams. The remaining 36 holes will be contested at Midvale exclusively.
Last year, the Stags finished in 13th place when the championships were held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. They are currently ranked No. 3 in Division III by Golfstat.
