    Freshmen support Stags’ win over La Verne The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team finished up its fall season with a friendly against La Verne at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. The one-day tournament was played on the South Course, adjusted to be a par 72 at 6992 yards.

    Strong third round boosts Stags at WNMU Tourney The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team improved with each round at the Western New Mexico University Fall Intercollegiate Tournament played at the Golf Club of Estrella to place in seventh.

    Shaw leads Stags to second place in CA State Intercollegiate Junior Jonathan Shaw (CMC) shot two rounds at 70 despite rainy weather to help the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team to a second place finish in the CA State Intercollegiate in at the Diamond Valley Golf Club. Shaw was the individual winner at 4-under over the two day tournament.

    Men’s golf takes top spot in preseaon poll In the Division III Bushnell Golfweek Preseaon Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Poll, the reigning national champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, was voted as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. The Stags received 14 of the 19 first place votes and out-paced No. 2 Methodist in the points column (463 to 434).

    End of the Year Awards for CMS It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.

    SCIAC honors All-Academic Team for 2015-16 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

Chodosh in March of 2016 appointed Terrance J. Tumey as the new Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CMS) Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreational Services and William B. Arce Professor and George R. Roberts Fellow.

    Three Stags GCAA All-America; Wrenn on All-Nicklaus Team The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) finalized the Division III PING All-America Teams which included three players from the National Championship-winning Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. As previously released, freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) earned First Team honors. He is now joined by sophomore Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the Third Team and senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) capped off his career with an All-America Honorable Mention.

    CMS breaks into top-10 in DIII Directors’ Cup standings In the 2015-16 school year, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings for the first time in program history with a tie for tenth place nationally. The final results were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on June 9.

    Jollymour named DIII Coach of the Year On Monday morning, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golf Pride Grips announced Bim Jollymour as the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year for Division III men’s golf. In the 2015-16 season, Jollymour led his Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team to the program’s first National Championship in Penfield, N.Y.

    Multiple award winners from GCAA for Stags The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the All-Region, All-America and All-America Scholar teams with members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team on each. Freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) was named a Division III PING First-Team All-American and joined sophomore Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the West’s All-Region Team. Additionally, senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) continued the history of All-America Scholars in the CMS program to cap off his career.

    SCIAC and CMS Athlete of the Week: Alex Wrenn – Men’s Golf (5/9 - 5/15/16) Freshman men’s golfer Alex Wrenn (CMC) jumped up three spots, helped by birdies on the final three holes in the final round of the NCAA Division III Championships in Rochester, N.Y., to tie for first place and force a playoff to decide the individual national champion.

    Seven strokes separate Stags from the pack going into the final round The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team retains its first place position after the third day of the NCAA Championships with a score of 303 on the Midvale course. The Stags had their highest scoring of the tournament so far but still produced a round worthy of the No. 1 spot at +28. CMS’ closes competitor is Otterbein who jumped up four places in the third round, coming in at 6-over for +35 overall. Just five strokes separate positions two through seven while CMS holds the seven stroke lead on Otterbein.

    Stags still out front; lead cut to nine in second round at NCAA Championships The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team remains at the top of the leaderboard after two full rounds in the 2016 NCAA Championships in New York. The No. 3 ranked Stags played on the tougher of the two courses – Midvale – today and the scores showed it, in comparison to yesterday’s 2-over round on the Mendon course. CMS finished at +11 on the day and +13 overall, still good for the top spot and nine strokes ahead of the second place finisher of Washington & Lee at +22.

    Eleven stroke lead after first round at NCAA Championships The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team leads all 41 teams after a very successful first round at the NCAA Championships. The No. 3 ranked Stags were 2-over (286) and the next closest team was No. 2 St. Thomas who finished the day at +13. Additionally, senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) and freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) are the top two individuals in the field of 210 golfers.

    Men’s golf NCAA Championships preview The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team earned the automatic qualification from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and is poised to compete in the NCAA Championships May 10-13. Forty one teams and five individuals for a total of 210 athletes will compete in the championships.

    Five Stags win All-SCIAC honors; Jollymour is Coach of the Year Five of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team earned honors on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams while Bim Jollymour was named as Coach of the Year. Freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) was named the Ken Sherman Newcomer of the Year and joined by senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) and Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the First Team. Sophomores Matt Shuman (CMC) and Jackson Zepf (CMC) round out the Stags’ representatives with Second Team honors.

    Back on top; Stags win SCIAC Championships and 11th conference title To start the third and final round of the 2016 SCIAC Championships, three strokes separated four teams at the top of the leaderboard. When the final scorecards were turned in, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team had moved from fourth to first place and run away from the field to win the SCIAC Championships by 13 strokes on April 26 at Oak Valley Golf Course.
