2016 NCAA DIII National Champions; 12 SCIAC Championships

    The usually quiet Los Serranos Country Club broke out in applause and celebration as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team won its 12th Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, punching its ticket to the NCAA Championship.

    After a fourth place finish in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team came back on Monday with a much-improved performance and scored 291 to climb up to first place.

    Only four strokes separated the top four teams in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team sits in fourth place in the tournament with a team score of 299, trailing the leader, La Verne at 295.
  • Defending national champs look to repeat as SCIAC Champions

    The No. 13 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team enters the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference as the No. 2 seed, just eight strokes behind No. 22 University of La Verne. The tournament will be held on the South Course at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

  • Dramatic comeback for Stags in SCIAC #2

    After posting a 317 on Saturday, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team came back with a 292 on the second day to finish in a tie for fourth overall. Junior Jonathan Shaw (CMC) led the Stags at 5-over on the weekend, aided by a 2-under (70) on Sunday.

  • Stags post low round on final day of West Cup

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team improved each round for an eventual second place finish at the West Cup tournament at the Sierra La Verne Country Club. The Stags posted the lowed team score in the final round of the 54-hole tournament at 7-over (291) today.

    The no. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team faced some challenges at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational from March 17-19, taking on 14 of the top-25 NCAA Division III schools in the country.

    Only seven strokes separated the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team from the leader, Oklahoma Baptist, in The Master’s University Spring Invitational. At just 9-over in the tournament, the Stags placed fifth behind top-25 competition from the NAIA.

  • Freshmen support Stags’ win over La Verne

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team finished up its fall season with a friendly against La Verne at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. The one-day tournament was played on the South Course, adjusted to be a par 72 at 6992 yards.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team improved with each round at the Western New Mexico University Fall Intercollegiate Tournament played at the Golf Club of Estrella to place in seventh.
  • Shaw leads Stags to second place in CA State Intercollegiate

    Junior Jonathan Shaw (CMC) shot two rounds at 70 despite rainy weather to help the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team to a second place finish in the CA State Intercollegiate in at the Diamond Valley Golf Club. Shaw was the individual winner at 4-under over the two day tournament.
  • Men’s golf takes top spot in preseaon poll

    In the Division III Bushnell Golfweek Preseaon Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Poll, the reigning national champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, was voted as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. The Stags received 14 of the 19 first place votes and out-paced No. 2 Methodist in the points column (463 to 434).

    It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.
  • SCIAC honors All-Academic Team for 2015-16

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

    Claremont McKenna College President Hiram E. Chodosh in March of 2016 appointed Terrance J. Tumey as the new Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CMS) Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreational Services and William B. Arce Professor and George R. Roberts Fellow.

    CMS men's golfer Tim de Silva has become the second driver to secure an entry to the inaugural Mazda Road to Indy USF2000 $200K Scholarship Shootout which will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, near Monterey, Calif., on Dec. 6-7.

  • Three Stags GCAA All-America; Wrenn on All-Nicklaus Team

    The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) finalized the Division III PING All-America Teams which included three players from the National Championship-winning Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. As previously released, freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) earned First Team honors. He is now joined by sophomore Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the Third Team and senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) capped off his career with an All-America Honorable Mention.

  • CMS breaks into top-10 in DIII Directors’ Cup standings

    In the 2015-16 school year, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings for the first time in program history with a tie for tenth place nationally. The final results were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on June 9.
  • Jollymour named DIII Coach of the Year

    On Monday morning, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golf Pride Grips announced Bim Jollymour as the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year for Division III men’s golf. In the 2015-16 season, Jollymour led his Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team to the program’s first National Championship in Penfield, N.Y.
  • Multiple award winners from GCAA for Stags

    The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the All-Region, All-America and All-America Scholar teams with members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team on each. Freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) was named a Division III PING First-Team All-American and joined sophomore Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the West’s All-Region Team. Additionally, senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) continued the history of All-America Scholars in the CMS program to cap off his career.

    Freshman men’s golfer Alex Wrenn (CMC) jumped up three spots, helped by birdies on the final three holes in the final round of the NCAA Division III Championships in Rochester, N.Y., to tie for first place and force a playoff to decide the individual national champion.
