The CMS Men's Soccer Team (9-2-2, 7-1-2 in SCIAC) hosted Cal Tech (1-11, 1-9 in SCIAC) Monday afternoon and came away with a dominant 7-0 victory over the Beavers.
After 25 scoreless minutes, Stag Tony Garcia (SO, Pueblo, CO) started the scoring with a goal slipped into the far post. Garcia's first goal of the season was assisted by John Shaughnessy (FR, San Diego), who scored shortly after off a ball cut back across the endline from Mitchell Skotarczyk (SR, Brea). The half ended with a score of 2-0.
The second half action began with a PK scored by Rodrigo Bravo Beneitez (SO, San Diego) [pictured] who went on to score again 10 minutes later being assisted by Walker Adams (SO, Salt Lake City, UT). Two more goals were added by Shaughnessy and Sam Ullman (JR, Portland, OR) before Bravo topped the game off with a completed hat trick, which put the Stags ahead 7-0 at the final whistle.
The Stags' defense logged its seventh shut-out of the season. Garcia, Shaughnessy, and Bravo each got their first goals of the season. Monday's win added 3 points to the Stag's running total, which put them only 3 points behind Redlands who remains in first place.
