David Taylor scored a hat trick over the course of 13 and half minutes in the second half as CMS opened their SCIAC schedule with a 3-1 win at Cal Lutheran. The Stags improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in SCIAC while the Kingsmen fell to 0-4 and 0-1.
CMS dominated the game throughout the contest, but could not convert any of their 13 shots in the first half. The Kingsmen, who were outshot 30-12 in the game, got on the scoreboard first, but it was by virtue of an own goal by the Stags in the 60th minute. Taylor made sure that they were not behind for long as he scored unassisted 14 seconds later. He scored the game winner less than two minutes later, again unassisted. He converted his third goal on a penalty kick in the 74th minute. Ricky Doar went all ninety minutes in goal and made six saves.
CMS plays the first of four straight home games this Saturday, September 17. They play Occidental College at 1:00 on Pritzlaff Field.
