The Stags and Athenas are both in first place after the first day of competition at the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships. CMS leads the women's competition over Redlands 298-242 and the men's competition over Redlands 266-241.
CMS had three SCIAC Champions on the first day - Danielle Peebles (SO, La Mesa) in the 500 freestyle and both the men's and women's 400 medley relays. The women's relay included Jessica Harrang (SO, Sammamish, WA), Lisal Smith (SR, Davis), Amy Fuller (SR, Burlingame) and Lauren Kristensen (SR, Saugus). The men's relay included Matt Gannon (SO, Valencia), Ryan Toohey (SO, Rocklin), Tyler Owens (JR, Camarillo) and John Sloat (SO, Lafayette).
CMS also had five second place finishes. On the men's side they included Gannon in the 200 individual medley and the 200 free relay [J.P. Wright (SR, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Toohey, Owens, Sloat]. On the women's side they included Fuller in the 200 individual medley, Kevyn Klein (JR, Northridge) in the 50 freestyle and the 200 free relay [Quirina Mitchell (FR, Kingsburg), Smith, Klein, Kristensen].
