Led by sophomores Warren Wood (Del Mar, CA) and Joe Dorn (Washington D.C.), CMS Stags Tennis had its best ever performance in the Pac Coast Men's Doubles Championships in La Jolla, CA, Feb 28 - Mar 2. Wood and Dorn won four matches in the main draw to become the first team in CMS history to reach the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament. The Stags' #1 pair did it the hard way however, coming back from a set down in three of their four wins and saving two match points in the first round. Wood and Dorn eventually fell in the quarters to USC's De Vromme and Johnson in a 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 epic battle. De Vromme and Johnson would reach the finals before losing in three sets.
Also impressive for CMS were the teams of Skyler Butts (Fr. - Santa Ana, CA) and Neel Kotrappa (Jr. Capt - La Verne, CA) and Nikolas Marino (So. - San Diego, CA) and Alex Lane (Sr. - Claremont, CA). Butts and Kotrappa lost in the first round of the main draw but then when on to win four matches in the consolation before withdrawing in the semifinals. Marino and Lane, who dropped a deciding set tie-break to Butts and Kotrappa in the fourth round of consolation, also won two matches in the back draw.
By the end of the tournament, CMS' teams had the following records:
