On Court: Played #1 singles for Webb School in Claremont...first Webb School alum since Drew Sabater (HMC '09) to join Stags Tennis...made debut as a Stag as a freshman at ITA West Regionals where he reached the Round of 16 in singles before losing to teammate and #3 seed Robbie Erani in straight sets...teamed up with fellow freshman Frank Liu to reach the doubles quarterfinals before losing to eventual champs Larsen and Pybas from UC Santa Cruz...played very consistently in the spring, going 6-0 in singles dual matches and losing only one set...played with five different partners to go 6-2 in doubles dual matches...finished with 8-1 singles record and 8-3 doubles record overall...as a sophomore went 2-2 in four singles matches at USTA / ITA West Regionals, then partnered Mac Cahill to win two of three doubles matches...returned in the spring and immediately made an impact in the Stags starting singles lineup, winning his first four dual matches without losing a set...played mostly at the #5 and #6 singles positions, but also got time at #1, #2, and #4...key dual match wins against Swarthmore, UC Santa Cruz, Middlebury, and Vanguard en route to a 12-4 dual match record and 14-7 mark overall...broke into the doubles starting lineup in early March with partner Brandon Wei and the pair became the Stags most consistent, posting a 20-4 mark at #2 and #3 which was good for the fourth best single season record for a Stags team in CMS history...finished 24-6 overall in doubles, placing him in the top 20 all time for a single season winning percentage...was voted Most Improved Player by his teammates for his breakthrough season...as a junior was named Stags Captain in October for demonstrating consistent leadership on and off court...entered the USTA/ITA West Regionals unseeded and won six matches to take the singles title, defeating five seeded players en route to the championship...staved off match points in the semis at 6-3, 5-1 down before winning in three sets...defeated Pomona-Pitzer's Chris Wiechert in the final after being down a set...qualified as one of eight players in the country for Small College Nationals in Mobile, AL, where he faced seeded players in all three matches and defeated 4th seed Oliver Loutsenko of Skidmore in his second match...went 7-2 in singles and 2-1 in doubles (with Pereverzin), earning fall rankings of #2 in the west and #6 nationally in singles...his regional singles title earned him ITA All-American honors...returned in spring to compete for starting singles position, debuting dual match play at #4 against Brandeis...stayed undefeated against Division III opponents until his loss in the Ojai quarters to Cal Lutheran's #1 Nick Ballou on April 27...earned a dramatic match clinching victory against Amherst in the Stags' 5-0 NCAA semi-final win to remain undefeated against D3 opponents in dual match play...partnered Butts at the #2 doubles position, where the duo were 25-6 in dual match play and ranked 8th in the West Region....placed 5th in matches played (33) and fourth in matches won (26) for a doubles team in a single season in CMS Stags Tennis history...Kotrappa is also seventh in matches played (37) and ninth in matches won (28) during a single season for an individual doubles player...ends the season with overall singles record of 18-5 and overall doubles record of 28-9...as a senior did not play in the fall but came out very strong early in the spring campaign...went 7-0 in singles dual matches without the loss of a set, earning two wins in February, four in March, and his last in April against Occidental...played #3 and #2 doubles almost exclusively with Butts, earning a 31-4 record and qualifying the duo for the NCAA individual doubles event...lost only one doubles match during a run that began on February 20 and ended on May 9, putting together a record of 28-1 with three partners and the only loss coming on March 25 at UCLA...during that run, he and Butts became the sixth Stags doubles team to win the prestigious Ojai Division III title....his 31-4 record was good for the highest single season doubles winning percentage in CMS Stags Tennis history at .886, while the 31 wins are second best in program history...concludes a decorated Stags Tennis career that includes an ITA West singles title and ITA All-American honors in singles as a junior, an Ojai doubles title and NCAA doubles qualification as a senior, and career records of 47-13 in singles (third best in CMS history), and 91-22 in doubles, putting him 5th on the CMS all-time list in wins and 3rd in winning percentage (.805).
