Stags Win Three Of Four At Convergence

The men's water polo team got back on the winning track at their own Claremont Convergence Tournament this weekend winning three of their four games.  CMS won their opener on Friday over California Maritime Academy 19-5 and fell in the nightcap to Johns Hopkins University 8-5.  On Saturday, the Stags beat Washington & Jefferson College 14-7 and MIT 11-8.  CMS is now 5-11 overall.

14 of the 18 field players scored at least one goal in the tournament.  Andrew Cosentino (FR, Greenwich, CT) led the team with eight goals.  Four other players scored four or more goals including Ryan Anderson (SO, Greenwich, CT) with seven, Tyler Owens (SR, Camarillo [pictured]) with six, Ben Draa (SO, Los Gatos) with five and Scott Sanford (SO, Newport Beach) with four.  Xande Wright (JR, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) was sensational in goal with 44 saves in just over six halves of play.  Sean Wasserman (FR, Los Gatos) recorded 11 saves in just under two halves.

CMS begins SCIAC play this Saturday.  They travel to Thousand Oaks for an 11:00 game at Cal Lutheran.
