  • Deer, Rossman, and Tilton Earn All-SCIAC Honors

    On Thursday morning, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2017 men’s water polo All-SCIAC teams. Among those honored were a trio of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletes. Senior Noah Deer (CMC) and sophomore Zack Rossman (CMC) earned First Team accolades, while senior Peter Tilton (CMC) was honored with a Second Team nod.
  • Men's Water Polo Starts SCIAC Tournament With Sagehens

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team ended the 2017 regular season in dramatic fashion to earn a spot in the SCIAC Tournament. CMS needed to win its final four games of the season to claim the four seed in the upcoming Conference Tournament. The Stags will make the short walk across the street to take on top-seeded Pomona-Pitzer at 7:00 p.m. in Haldeman Pool. In the other SCIAC Semifinal, the Whittier Poets will host the Chapman Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The winners of the two Semifinal matches will square off on Sunday of the highest remaining seed for the SCIAC Championship.
  • Stags End Regular Season By Doubling Up Cal Lutheran

    Having already clinched a spot in next weekend’s SCIAC Tournament, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team doubled up the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen to end the regular season on Saturday morning. The Stags took a 5-3 lead into the half before shutting out the Kingsmen in the third period to take an 8-3 lead into the fourth before winning by the five-goal margin.
  • Stags Top Bulldogs, Claim Spot in SCIAC Tournament

    In a must win game for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team on Wednesday night, the Stags turned in one of their finest performances of the season to beat the Redlands Bulldogs 11-8. Seven different Stags scored in the team effort victory. Zack Rossman (CMC) scored four goals to lead the CMS offense while Ethan Lewis (CMC) made five saves and collected three steals to help the Stags into the conference tournament.
  • Stags Best Leopards with Nine Second-Half Goals

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team scored nine goals in the second-half to top the La Verne Leopards on Saturday morning 12-7. Five different Stags scored two goals apiece in the game and Ethan Lewis (CMC) made 12 saves to help CMS to their second-straight victory.
  • Late Run Seals Victory Over Tigers

    On Wednesday afternoon the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team handed the Occidental Tigers a 15-10 loss in Taylor Pool. Christian Thornton (CMC) scored four goals on just four shots to lead five Stags with multiple goals in the victory for CMS. Ethan Lewis (CMC) made seven saves in goal to secure the win.
  • Stags Drop Pair of Matches with Ranked Foes

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo took to Axelrood Pool on Saturday for a pair of matches. First up it was the No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens taking the short walk across the street for the Sixth Street Rivalry Match. The Stags held a lead in the fourth-quarter, but could not hold on and the Sagehens earned the 6-5 victory. In the second match of the day, the No. 8 Pepperdine Wave took out the Stags 18-8.
  • Ten Different Stags Score in Victory at Caltech

    ed by three goals from Noah Deer (CMC), 10 different Stags scored in a 13-6 victory over the Caltech Beavers on Saturday morning. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps fell into a 3-1 hole after just six minutes of the match, but rattled off eight-straight goals to take a commanding 9-3 lead.
  • Whittier Escapes Axelrood Pool With One-Goal Victory

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team held the Whittier Poets scoreless over the final period on Thursday night, but could not complete the comeback. The Stags fell 8-7 in a gripping match in Axelrood Pool.After Noah Deer (CMC) scored the matches’ first goal, the Poets went on to take a 6-2 lead after 11 minutes of play. Facing an uphill battle, the Stags clawed their way back and early in the third period trimmed the lead to just one at 6-5.
  • Panthers Edge Stags in Overtime Tilt

    Chapman’s Hunter Ramaekers scored twice in the second overtime period to help push the Chapman Panthers past the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team on Tuesday by a 12-9 final. Zack Rossman (CMC) led the Stags’ offensive effort on the evening with five goals and an assist.
  • Stags Score Early, Hold On Late to Edge Cal Lu

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team jumped out to an early 5-1 lead against Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning, but had to hold on late as the Kingsmen battle back in the second-half. The early goals helped propel the Stags to a 11-10 victory.

  • Late Goals Push Redlands Past Stags

    With just over three minutes left in regulation, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team clung to an 8-7 lead. Redland’s Grant Curry scored a pair of goals in the final 3:06 to edge the Stags 9-8 on Wednesday night. Robert Driscoll (CMC), Peter Tilton (CMC), and Noah Deer (CMC) each tallied two goals in the match. Driscoll also added an assist.
  • Nick Britt's Clutch Goal Seals Comeback Over Concordia (CA)

    The Gary Troyer Tournament ended on a positive note for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team as the Stags upset Division II Concordia University in a 12-11 comeback thriller on Saturday night to close the weekend.
  • Deer Dominates, Stags Split on Day One at Troyer

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo got off to a strong start at the Gary Troyer Tournament, earning a hard-fought 17-10 victory over Connecticut College on Friday afternoon. The two teams were fairly close in the first half of the match, but the Stags came out sharper in the second half and pulled away for their seventh win of the season.
  • Stags Tame Leopards, Cruise to Big Victory

    On Wednesday night the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team steamrolled the visiting La Verne Leopards 18-8 in Axelrood Pool. The Stags scored at least four goals in each period en route to the double-digit victory.

    Saturday's rematch against Occidental College provided similar results for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team as the Stags tamed the Tigers in a 17-7 victory. Five different Stags scored multiple goals as Nick Britt (CMC), Noah Deer (CMC), and Arya Nakhjavani (CMC) co-led with three goals each while Ethan Lewis (CMC) and Peter Tilton (CMC) both tallied a pair. 
  • CMS Almost Upsets Cal Baptist Before Overwhelming Tigers

    The first day of the Lancers Invitational ended in partial success for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team nearly upset Division II Cal Baptist University in a 8-7 loss before defeating Occidental College handily 13-6. 
  • Sagehens Top Stags in Sixth Street Showdown

    Two goals in the opening minute by Graham Fullerton (CMC) and Zack Rossman (CMC) gave the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team an early 2-0 against their sixth street rival, Pomona-Pitzer. The early goals were not enough as the Sagehens went on for the 11-5 victory.
  • Home Sweet Home: Stags Take Two in Axelrood Pool

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team hosted their first match of the 2017 season against the Caltech Beavers on Saturday afternoon, winning its home opener 14-6. The Stags followed-up their early morning victory with an 18-9 win over Riverside Community College in the nightcap of the split-doubleheader for CMS.
  • Five decades of greatness represented in the 2017 CMS Hall of Fame class

    A tremendous group of five Athenas and Stags are being inducted into the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Alumni Association Athletics Hall of Fame this year. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Claremont McKenna College’s Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.
  • USC and Pepperdine Prove Too Much for Stags

    On Sunday afternoon the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team took on a pair of Division I teams in No. 2 University of Southern California and No. 8 Pepperdine University. The Trojans showed why they are one of the top teams in the country with a 20-1 victory over the Stags. CMS was able to score a goal in the third quarter, but Southern Cal went on for the comfortable victory.
  • Late Comeback Helps Stags to First Win of 2017

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team went 1-1 in the first day of the Inland Empire Classic, earning its first win of the season in a thrilling comeback against Whittier College before falling to Cal Baptist University.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team jumps into the pool on Saturday for their first two matches in the 2017 season. The Stags will travel to Los Angeles for a double-dip against University of Southern California and UCLA beginning at 10:20 a.m.
