CLAREMONT, CA - Sophomore Aria Krumwiede (Scottsdale, AZ [pictured]) set a team record for most three-pointers without a miss (6-6) in the Athena's win over Caltech (5-17, 1-10) 81-30. The win moves the Athenas within two games of Whittier, who currently holds the fourth and final spot for the SCIAC tournament.
The Athenas were solid on defense for most of the night, forcing a season-high 30 turnovers and a game-high 12 steals and 40 rebounds. In addition to Krumwiede's record-setting six-for-six shooting behind the arc, she scored a game-high 23 points, had three rebounds and three assists. The Athenas shot 52.9% (27-51) from the field and set a team record by shooting 9-11 (81.8%) from behind the arc.
On Saturday February 12, the Athenas will be traveling to La Verne in hopes of closing the gap for the final tournament spot. Game time is set for 5:00pm. The Athenas won their previous meeting against La Verne 63-56.
