    One tough quarter gives CMS loss to NAIA No. 2 Westmont The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team came up against a formidable foe in Westmont, losing 62-49, on Saturday evening. The Warriors were successful on 24 baskets and ultimately had eight less turnovers than the Athenas. Coming into the contest, Westmont was ranked No. 2 nationally in the NAIA.

After Chicago’s defense stifled the Athenas the day before, CMS finished strong against the McWilliams Tournament host in the final game of the road trip.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the regular season title outright with a 15-1 record and is the No. 1 seed for the upcoming SCIAC Tournament. The Athenas will host No. 4 seed Redlands (9-7) in one semifinal while No. 2 Chapman (14-2) hosts No. 3 Cal Lutheran (12-4) in the other semifinal game.
