INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fifth time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team is heading to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. The NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee on Monday, Nov. 11 announced the field of 64 teams for the Division III Championships and CMS is in after earning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) automatic bid by winning the SCIAC Postseason Tournament over the weekend.
CMS (10-8-3) faces No. 12 Hardin-Simmons (15-1-1) in its first round matchup on Saturday Nov. 16 at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, Calif. at 7:30 pm. Cal Lutheran (17-5) and Puget Sound (15-2-2) square off in the other first round matchup at Cal Lutheran on Nov. 16 at 5:00 pm. The winner of the CMS vs. Hardin-Simmons matchup plays against the winner of the Cal Lutheran vs. Puget Sound matchup. The second round game will be on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 5:00 pm for the first round winners. Hardin-Simmons earned the American Southwest Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
CMS last played in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship in 2009. In 2009, Hardin-Simmons eliminated CMS in the second round with a 3-1 win. CMS is 2-4-1 all-time in NCAA Division III postseason play.
Tickets and merchandise will be sold at the entrance to Rolland Stadium. Ticket price for adults are $10. Students (with ID), senior citizens (60+) and children ages 2-12 will be $5. All children under two will be admitted for free. Merchandise will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
