CLAREMONT, Calif. – Four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo players were named to the Division III All-American team by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for the 2013 season. Junior driver Alex Toohey along with junior utility Candace Filippelli were named to the first team, while senior utility Jeanne Kelber and sophomore goalie Allison Hu were honorable mention selections.
Filippelli, a first team All-SCIAC selection in 2013, led the team in goals (82) and ejections drawn. She averaged four goals per game against all non-SCIAC competition. Toohey, also a first team All-SCIAC selection in 2013, led the team in steals and minutes played. She was second on the team in assists, ejections drawn, and goals (80).
Kelber earned second team All-SCIAC honors in 2013 and led the team in shot blocks and pass deflections. She was also second on the team in terms of steals and minutes. Hu made 114 saves during SCIAC competition and 257 blocks for the season.
The Athenas were 9-2 in SCIAC competition for the 2013 season, losing only to Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands. They posted a 15-15 record overall one game improvement from 2012.
