Head Cross Country Coach John Goldhammer has been selected the Division III West Region Women's Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  The Athenas are ranked 11th in the country entering this weekend's NCAA Championships in Waverly, IA.

The women's team has had a very successful season.  The team won the NCAA West Regionals last weekend by 35 points.  CMS won their 20th SCIAC title by finishing first at the SCIAC Championships and finishing 7-0 at the SCIAC Multi-Dual.  The Athenas also won the open race at the UC Irvine Invitational.  CMS was ninth at the UC Riverside Invitational finishing behind seven scholarship schools and a post-collegiate team.  CMS was third at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota behind two teams that will also be competing at the NCAA Championships.

Goldhammer, in his 28th year at CMS, has led the Athenas cross country team to 18 of their titles.  He also led the Stags to their 11th title and a berth in the NCAA Championships.
