Both XC Teams And 10 Individuals Earn All-Academic Honors
The men's and women's cross country teams along with 10 athletes earned All-Academic honors from the United State Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the USTFCCCA recently. To qualify for the All-Academic award, all members of the team must average a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and have earned All-Region honors (top 35).
CMS was one of only two teams nationally to have six women earn individual honors: Allison Barnwell (CMC JR), Lisa Beem (SCR JR), Bridget Blum (CMC FR), Marnie Hogue (SCR SR), Sara Mostatabi (CMC SO) and Aubrey Zimmerling (CMC SR). The men had four individuals who qualified: Rafer Dannenhauer (HMC SR), Bennett Naden (HMC SR), Sam Pitcavage (CMC SO) and Brian Sutter (CMC JR). CMS was one of 10 teams nationally to have as many as four individual qualifiers.
The Athenas, 2012 SCIAC and West Region Champions and third place at the NCAA Championships, had a cumulative GPA of 3.476 for their 24 runners through the fall semester while the Stags, 2012 SCIAC and West Region Champions and 11th place at the NCAA Championships, had a cumulative GPA of 3.482 for their 34 runners.
