Adele Eslinger likes owl socks, kittens, jasmine green tea, knitting, and grandma sweaters. "It's like I hit 70 at 12," she confesses. The CMC senior from Edmonds, Washington is a linguistics major with a dual in Spanish. She worked for the Living Tongues Institute for Endangered languages this summer in Oxapampa, Peru, where she ate delicious river fish, learned some Yanesha and got to know some beautiful people. "'Moon' is a'rrorr," she shares. "And 'sun' is a'tsne. Isn't that beautiful?" Her favorite food in Peru was toasted corn and tiraditos. "Like ceviche it's raw fish, but cured in lime juice. In Peruvian fashion they top them with different aji sauces, which are made from the aji pepper."
Adele's 5k P.R. is 18:58, her 6k P.R. is 23:04, and her 1500 P.R. Is 5:10. She sings obscure lines from dated musicals, pores over puzzles, and pins windflowers to her braids. Her spirit animal is the civet, a cat-like creature.
