  • End of the Year Awards for CMS

    It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.
  • SCIAC honors All-Academic Team for 2015-16

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.
  • Scholar Athletes honored by CMS

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics would like to congratulate the 17 recent graduates who have been added to the CMS Wall of Fame and the 129 student-athletes who have made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2015-16 academic year.

    CMS won 11 SCIAC championships, had 13 teams participate in the NCAA Championships, finished tied for 10th in the Directors' Cup Standings and tallied four national championships (3 individual and 1 team). Take a look back at the 2015-16 year in this highlight video.
  • Smith named to All-SCIAC Second Team

    Sophomore Trey Smith (CMC) earned baseball all-conference honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as announced on May 11. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team finished in eighth place with a 9-19 record in conference, significantly better than the 5-23 showing in 2015.

  • Team win for Stags in final game of the season

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team went out with a win – 7-6 over Redlands – in the last game of the 2016 season. It was the multi-hit games for freshman Ryan Motter (CMC), senior MacKenzie Menthen (CMC) and sophomore Nolan Anderson (CMC) plus a big homer by sophomore Chase Eller (CMC) that lifted CMS past the No. 4 seeded Bulldogs. The Stags finished the year at 11-26, 9-19 in SCIAC.

  • Baughman & Anderson take Stags past No. 12 Oxy

    For the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team’s eighth SCIAC win, the Stags beat No. 12 Occidental 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Arce Field in the first SCIAC Round Robin game. Junior Sam Baughman (CMC) pitched five scoreless innings and ultimately only allowed two runs for his fifth win on the season.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team held a 3-0 lead through the first eight innings of play in game one of its three game series with Redlands but gave up four in the ninth to fall 4-3.

  • Big ninth inning gives Ithaca sweep of Stags

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team lost to Ithaca College 9-5 on Tuesday afternoon after a big ninth inning comeback for the Bombers. The Stags led or the game was tied through eight innings before Ithaca put together five runs on five hits in the ninth.
  • Unearned runs result in 4-3 loss to Ithaca

    In the first game against Ithaca College this week, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team was unable to produce late in the game and finished with the 4-3 loss. While senior MacKenzie Menthen (CMC) did not allow an earned run in seven innings of work, Ithaca’s Tyler Hill went all nine innings and held the Stags at three runs off six hits.

    After getting rained out on Friday afternoon, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned a split with Rutgers University-Newark in the Saturday double header on Arce Field (7-6 win, 8-5 loss). Before the game, CMS founding athletic director and baseball coach, William B. Arce was remembered.

    Bill Arce, founding Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) athletic director and Stags head baseball coach, passed away Monday. He was at Pomona Valley Hospital in the presence of his close family. Coach Arce was 90.

    A pair of home losses to the University of La Verne Leopards dropped the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team to 3-8 (2-4) SCIAC on the year. La Verne beat CMS 6-2 in game one and 4-2 in game two.

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team scored first in the Friday single game against cross-street rivals, Pomona-Pitzer. Until the top of the eighth inning, the Stags kept the game close but ultimately lost 12-3 to the Sagehens in the SCIAC opener.
