Thomas Jansen enters his second season as an assistant coach with the CMS Swimming and Diving program in 2025-26, after helping both the Athenas and Stags to top-20 national finishes in his first year.

Jansen comes to CMS from Occidental College, where he served as an assistant coach. Prior to joining CMS, he honed his skills in the offseason coaching at the Kenyon College Total Performance Swim Camp (Summer 2024), the Walnut Creek Aquabears USA Swimming Club (Summer 2021, 2022, 2023), and the Lafayette Moraga Youth Association Recreational Team (Summer 2023, 2024).

Jansen was a five-year swimmer at the University of Redlands, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a graduate certificate in human resources management.  He enjoyed success resetting his own program records in the 1000-yard and 1650-yard freestyle events at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, placing ninth overall and earning Second-Team All-American status.

Jansen also currently holds the University of Redlands Thompson Aquatic Center pool record in the 1000-yard freestyle.  He was captain and named MVP his senior year, and was honored as the University of Redlands Frank Serrao Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2023.

A California native, Jansen was born and raised in the Bay Area and has been living in Southern California for the past six years. Outside of work he enjoys biking, golfing, the outdoors, and reading. Â
