Sam Baron enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving programs in 2025-26, after helping both the Athenas and Stags to national top-20 finishes in her first year. 

Baron had a four-year career at the Division I level, including her first two at UCLA and her final two at the University of Virginia. She qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships in 2021 at UCLA in both the 100 fly and the 200 fly, setting a UCLA record in the 100 fly (51.65) at the Pac-12 Championships. She also was a 2021 US Olympic Trials qualifier. 

At Virginia as a senior, Baron won the 100 fly and the 200 fly at the Cavalier Invitational, her seventh and eighth individual event wins of her career. She was a two-time Scholar All-American selection from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as an undergraduate. 

Originally from Bellevue, Washington, Baron was the No. 3 ranked swimmer in the state as a senior, and earned 2019 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors. She won two state championships in the 200 IM, and one in the 100 fly. 

Baron graduated from Virginia with a degree in psychology and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health and an MA in psychology at Claremont Graduate University. She plans to pursue a PhD in developmental psychology after completing her MA.
