Rome, Ga. - Sibi Raja and Henry Wilson earned a quarterfinals doubles win, and Advik Mareedu captured a win in singles, as both Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis entrants advanced to the ITA Cup Semifinals on Friday at the Rome Tennis Center. 

Raja and Wilson prevailed in a first-set tiebreaker 7-5 over Ryan Battaglia and Ryan Gipner of Mary Washington, and then went on to control the second set for a 7-6(5), 6-2 win, continuing their run as a team that went from an unseeded entrant to in the ITA West Regionals to the national semifinals.

The Stag duo will be in action in tomorrow's semifinal round against Jacob Linares and Nicholas Fischer of Hobart, who upset the top seed from Gustavus Adolphus in the quarterfinals. The winner will advance to Sunday's championship. 

Mareedu was tested in his quarterfinal match against Michael Melnikov, but prevailed 7-5, 6-4 to extend his Division III winning streak to 43 matches (36-0 last year, 7-0 this year).

Mareedu had to fight off two set points down 5-4 in the first set, including at topspin lob winner on the second one after a 10-ball rally exchange. He will next play Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus, who upset third-seeded Ethan Green of Denison in the quarterfinals, with the winner advancing to Sunday's finals, where Mareedu could win his third ITA Cup singles title in four years. 

The semifinal round gets underway tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time (6 a.m. Pacific), with doubles taking place at 3:30 local time.
