CLAREMONT, Calif. - 
Renee Chong of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team earned a spot on the All-SCIAC second team in a vote of the conference's coaches, the SCIAC announced this afternoon. 
Chong returned to this Athenas this season after missing last year with an injury, and led the team in scoring at 14.7 points per contest. She had a career-high 28 points in a win over La Verne in December, and had 27 in a game that came down to the wire at Pomona-Pitzer in January. She also tallied 25 points at Cal Lutheran and had a late three-pointer to give CMS the lead in a win over Lebanon Valley in November.  
In addition to her scoring, Chong also led the team in steals with 43, including seven in a win over Wheaton, and tallied 45 assists, leading CMS in assists per game.
As a first-year, Chong earned a spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week After scoring 27 points in an overtime win over Illinois Wesleyan. She averaged 12.3 points per game, before being injured in preseason last season and missing her sophomore campaign. 
Chong and the Athenas finished the year with a 10-15 record, closing strong with a 5-3 record in February, which included two two-point losses (at Whitter, vs. Cal Lutheran) that came down a last-second shot.
