CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team will send five swimmers, including defending national champion
Lucas Lang, to the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina in three weeks.
Lang won the 1650-yard freestyle national title a year ago by just seven-hundredths of a second and earned the No. 1 seed in the event this year with a 15:22.23 at the SCIAC Championships. Lang is also seeded No. 5 in the 500-yard freestyle and is qualified to swim in the 200-yard freestyle as well.
Lang will be joined in individual races by
Evan Deedy, who is the No. 10 seed in the 100-yard breaststroke and the No. 17 seed in the 200-yard breaststroke, and is eligible for the 100-yard butterfly as well.
Jeremy Tan, meanwhile, is the No. 19 seed in both the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke.
Seniors
Theo Johnson and
Dylan Krueger also qualified with the CMS relay teams and will get to participate at nationals in their final seasons. The Stags are seeded No. 16 in the 200 free and 200 medley relays, and are also No. 18 in the 400 free and 800 free relays, and No. 22 in the 400 medley relay.
CMS will try to add to its traveling contingent this weekend at the NCAA Diving Regionals at Grinnell, where the Stags will send five competitors, including seniors and former SCIAC Champions
Jack Griffith and
Cyrus Gaylord, as well as All-SCIAC
Ethan Sattley, and first-years
Logan Mansfield and
Luke Vlases.
