GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Evan Deedy swam a 53.90 to win the consolation heat of the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning ninth place and breaking his own CMS record.
Deedy set the program record of 54.14 earlier this year and took almost a quarter-second off that mark with a 53.90. He won the consolation heat by .08, and had a time that would have been fifth in the championship final, while earning second-team All-America honors
Jeremy Tan also captured second-team All-America honors in the 100 back, and set a new personal best time with a 48.43 in the prelims, which moves him up to third in CMS history. He ended up in 16th place to earn All-America honors in an individual race for the first time.
CMS also had a second-team All-America relay, as Deedy and Tan joined
Dylan Krueger and
Theo Johnson with a 13th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, clocking a 1:28.42 in prelims and a 1:28.77 in the finals.
The Stags will be back in action on the final day of the NCAA Championships tomorrow, as
Lucas Lang will try to defend his national title in the 1650, while Deedy will be in the 200 breast and Tan in the 200 back.
