CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team ended the year ranked No. 5 in the final rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while national champion
Lindsay Eisenman finished ranked No. 1 in singles, the organization announced today.
National champion WashU ended the year ranked No. 1, followed by Chicago, Pomona-Pitzer, Emory and CMS in the top five. In addition to CMS and Pomona-Pitzer, the SCIAC was also represented in the top 30 by Redlands at No. 25 and Caltech at 29.
Eisenman won the national championship in singles last week at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, and ended the year in the No. 1 spot in the final singles rankings. She defeated No. 2 Emily Kantrovitz of Emory in the semifinals, and No. 3 Jacqueline Soloveychik of Wesleyan in the finals on her way to the title.
Also in the singles rankings for the Athenas were
Rebecca Kong at No. 39,
Ella Brissett at No. 45,
Alisha Chulani at No. 58 and
Bell Zhou at No. 64. Eisenman and
Emily Ing finished ranked No. 10 in doubles while Chulani and Kong were close behind in 12th.
CMS finished the year with an 18-4 final record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 12th season in a row before falling 4-3 to Johns Hopkins. The Athenas will return Eisenman, Kong, Zhou and Ing, as well as sophomore
Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne, as they try to pursue their fourth national title.
