Coach Powell joins the staff for his first year as jumps coach.  Powell is the current world record holder in the long jump (8.95m [29-4.5]) which he set while winning the World Championships in 1991.  He also won the World Long Jump title in 1993, Olympic silver medals in 1988 and 1992 and World bronze in 1995.

Powell competed at UC Irvine in the high and long jumps before completing his collegiate career at UCLA.  He has formerly coached at Cal State Fullerton and UCLA.  He still serves as an ambassador for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the world governing body for track & field.
