Oli Keohohou joins the CMS Softball program in 2012, bringingwith her an extraordinary depth of experience as a player and acoach.
Her pedigree in the sport was obvious as a youngster playing ASAsoftball. However, at Brigham Young University, Keohohouexploded onto the national scene and into elite company.
From 2001-2003, she was a two-time finalist for the Honda Award,given to the Collegiate Softball Player of the Year (the HeismanTrophy of NCAA Division I softball). She also earned NFCAFirst Team All-American honors during three consecutive seasons inProvo.
As a freshman, Keohohou led the nation in batting average (.458)and slugging percentage (.993). She also owns several BYU andMountain West Conference career and single season recordsincluding: homeruns (59), batting average (.458), on basepercentage (.636), slugging percentage (.993), and walks (75).
The MWC Player of the Year in 2003, she led the team in everyoffensive category including: batting average (.426),homeruns (20), RBI's (47), slugging percentage (1.016), on basepercentage (.609), and walks (60).
Spending her senior year at Cal State Long Beach, she finishedwith a .340 batting average, 4 homeruns, and a 1.137 on-base plusslugging percentage in just 23 games, while leading in walks with27 (1.17 per game). Keohohou graduated from CSULB with a degree inAmerican Studies.
After graduation, Keohohou played five years in the NationalProfessional Fastpitch League where she was a part of two nationalchampionship teams, the Akron Racers in 2005 and the WashingtonGlory in 2007. She holds the NPF All-Time records in homeruns (452004-2010), RBI's (140 2004-2010), and slugging percentage (.5912004-2007) and received All-NPF Team honors from 2006-2009.
Keohohou grew up in a family full of athletes, a few of themsuperstars like her. Her coaching and private instruction inthe game began almost a decade ago. Most recently, she hasbeen at the helm of the SoCal Pumas 16U team in an organization ledby her father, renowned coach Gary Keohohou. In addition toteaching the technical elements of the sport, Keohohou coaches themental game via her acquired wisdom and repertoire ofexperiences.
Keohohou is excited to join Athena Softball and hopes to add tothe strength of the program in her own unique way.
