"The CMS Recreation team understands the challenges of keeping our campus connected, motivated, and active during this time of remote learning," said Chris Spells, CMS Director of Recreation and Manager of Roberts Pavilion. "We are excited to explore this new space with the CMS community and maximize this experience. Health and Wellness is such an important part of the student experience here on our campus, and we will continue to work hard to create the best programming we can, for us all to move forward together."
Many of the CMS head coaches who are separated from their teams during the fall are teaching adapted physical education classes for a remote learning semester, utilizing zoom instruction and various web apps. Students wishing to sign up for physical education classes can find course syllabi as well as contact information for the instructors at the following link: https://cms.prestosports.com/physical_education/index2.

The five-member CMS athletic training staff will also conduct a course in the prevention of athletic injuries.
In addition to the CMS head coaches, the physical education department will also utilize outside instructors for several other online classes this fall. The list of offerings includes yoga, meditation, SCUBA, men's lacrosse skills, emotional intelligence (EI), hip hop dance and breakdancing.
Faculty and staff from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps interested in the courses taught by CMS PE Faculty may reach out to the instructor for permission to audit.
"I am excited to get this academic year started," said Oaks Garcia. "My PE HIIT class has been very interactive and the students have given me great energy while working hard on their fitness. I've found that being able to connect with my students and give them a break during the day helps to give them what they need to finish the day strong."
