Daniel Fajardo and
Adam Sage, and first-year
Jerry Xu, were named to the 2024 Division III Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team, it was announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
CMS also earned All-Academic Team distinction from the USTFCCCA for having a team grade point average of 3.66.Â
Fajardo, Sage and Xu helped CMS to a second-place finish at the NCAA West Region Championships, which was good enough to earn a team qualification to nationals for the 16th year in a row, where the Stags finished 26th.
Sage came in fourth place at regionals, one week after winning the SCIAC individual championship and taking SCIAC Athlete of the Year honors. Fajardo was in 20th place to take All-Region honors, while Xu was in 42nd place out of 174 runners, just ahead of the cutoff to finish in the top 25 percent.Â
