CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Ella Brissett and
Rebecca Kong won in both singles and doubles as the second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team took a 6-1 win over Sewanee on Sunday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
With the win, CMS moves to 6-1 on the season, with the only defeat coming indoors to top-ranked Chicago in the finals of the ITA Indoor Championships last weekend.
CMS earned the doubles point after Kong and
Emily Ing took a 6-2 win at No. 3 and Brissett and
Muduo Zhou won a 6-4 decision at No. 2. Sewanee was able to earn a win at No. 1 in a tiebreaker (9-7), but the Athenas had already secured the doubles point.
The Athenas were then able to earn four straight-set wins in singles to wrap up the team win.
Alisha Chulani took a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 and Kong earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4. Brissett prevailed 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 to earn the clinch.
Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne battled to a 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 win at No. 6.
Lindsay Eisenman added a three-set win at No. 1 (6-1, 3-6, 6-3).
CMS will be back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Lehigh at 7 p.m.
