WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Stella Cheng and Jessie Kong earned second-team All-America honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association, while Esther Lee and Christine Yu received honorable mention distinction, the organization announced today at the midway point of the NCAA Division III Championships.

Cheng has been recognized on one of the All-America teams in each of her first four seasons, including second-team honors as both a sophomore and senior. This season, she was the individual medalist at both SCIAC regular season tournaments and also was second at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational, and a solid fifth out of 68 at the Westbrook Village Invitational hosted by George Fox.

Kong earns her first All-America award after being a second-team All-SCIAC selection last season in her debut campaign. This year, she has finished third out of 59 at the California State Intercollegiate and third out of 68 at the Westbrook Invitational. She also had a strong effort finishing 14th out of 120 at the Jekyll Island Invitational.

Lee has earned first-team All-America honors in her first two seasons and was the SCIAC Athlete of the Year as a freshman, when she won the individual title at the SCIAC Championship. This year she was third out of 78 golfers at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational, fourth at the SCIAC Championships, and sixth at the first SCIAC regular season tournament.

Yu earns her first All-America honor after being a second-team All-SCIAC selection last season as a first-year. This year she came in second place at the SCIAC Championships at -1, one stroke off the lead, and has been in the top 10 at all six events she has competed in, including fifth at the Westbrook Invitational. She is currently 19th at the NCAA Championships at +5, finishing her second round today with a 73 before the weather hit.

CMS will resume its second round in the morning with Kong (one hole) and Cheng (two holes) still with three holes left to play. The Athenas are currently four holes clear of the cutline (+38), which is expected to go slightly higher as other teams finish their rounds.
