BEAUMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team finished at +11 to take first place by 14 strokes over Occidental, Chapman and La Verne in a quad match at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon on Saturday.
Christine Yu led the way for the Athenas as the only player in the field to finish below par with a 71, capping off her round with a birdie on 18 to win by two strokes. Her steady round also featured 15 pars and a birdie on the fourth hole.
Ella Chiu finished at +2 for the Athenas, which was good for third in the field, while
Esther Lee and
Monique Arroyo tied for fifth at +4. Lee had three birdies in her first five holes, while Arroyo played the back nine at even par.

Jessie Kong and
Precilla Tea each had two birdies for CMS as well, while
Emmie Ding rattled off nine straight pars in her first collegiate round.
CMS will be back in action at the Hollins Cup, hosted by UC Santa Cruz, on Oct. 13-14.
