Lindsay Eisenman won a pair of straight-set singles matches, and
Alisha Chulani and
Rebecca Kong earned a straight-set win in doubles, as both advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Saturday.
Eisenman opened with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Abigail Penados of North Central to move on to the second round, and then had a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ruth Hill of Trinity to advance through to Sunday. She also clinched All-America honors in singles for the second year in a row, after also winning it her first two years in doubles.
Chulani and Kong also earned their way through to the quarterfinals with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime of Kenyon. Chulani had already clinched All-America honors in doubles for the fourth year in a row by reaching the semifinals of the ITA Cup in the fall with
Ella Brissett. Her previous three years she was teamed with
Nikolina Batoshvili, earning the No. 1 ranking in the nation last year. This year, she was paired with Kong midway through the spring season, and Kong was able to continue the tradition, earning All-America honors for the first time in her rookie campaign.
Eisenman will face Lane Durkin of Wesleyan tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in the quarterfinal round. Chulani and Kong will face Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui of WashU at 2 p.m., on the heels of the Bears' team national title on Friday.
