CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Aika Swanson of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Nov. 1, the conference office announced today.
Swanson won both the 100 free and 200 free, and contributed to a 200 yard freestyle win, to help the Athenas come away with a win over No. 11 WashU and a narrow six-point defeat to No. 8 UChicago. Swanson had the first win for CMS on the day in the 200 free, finishing in 1:52.30, which moves her up from 10th in program history all the way to fifth.
Swanson then swam a 51.41 to win the 100 free, which ties for fourth in CMS history with Michelle Kee (2014). She then swam the lead leg of the 200 yard free relay, which edged Chicago by just .26.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it opens up SCIAC competition with a double dual at Occidental, along with Redlands.
