SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Jerry Xu finished 10th as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team earned a third-place finish among 13 teams at the Coyote Challenge hosted by CSU San Bernardino on Saturday. 

Cal Poly Pomona finished in first place with 27 points, with CSU San Marcos in second with 66 points. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was third with 79, before a big drop off to fourth place, where Riverside finished with 134 points. 

Xu finished in 25:24.9 to lead the way for the Stags, while fellow juniors Jacob Pippel, Jonas Rickert, and Arnav Shetty were in the top 20 in 16th, 17th and 20th place, respectively. Brennan Tobin was right behind in 21st, and Raja Mehendale was in 22nd in his first cross country race with the Stags. 

Charlie Routledge was in 28th place for CMS, while Rowan Haywood-O'Neill (44th) and Ferguson Wheeler (48th) were in the top 50. Tay Ohr-Rottler added a 52nd-place finish in his college debut. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it travels to the UC Riverside Invitational.
