Mike Anderson enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball program in 2026-27, after helping the Athenas to their first SCIAC Tournament title in nine years in 2026. CMS finished 20-8 in 2025-26, a 10-year improvement from the year before.Â
Anderson had some prior experience in the SCIAC prior to joining the Athenas, serving as an assistant coach with the Occidental men's basketball program from 2015-18, where he helped the Tigers to a seven-win improvement (12-13 to 19-7) and a second-place conference finish.Â
Anderson held a graduate assistant position at Washington State University in 2005-06, where he worked with Dick Bennett and Tony Bennett during their rebuild as they brought their program from the bottom of the PAC-12 to the Sweet 16 in 2008.
After finishing his tenure at Washington State, Anderson held a pair of high school coaching positions in Minnesota, coaching the Wayzata boys team in 2008-09 and the Breck boys team in 2013-14, before moving to California and starting at the collegiate level with Occidental.Â
Anderson graduated from Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in education, before getting master's degrees in education from both St. Mary's (Minn.) and Washington State, where his focus was in leadership and sports management.Â
