Sidney Smith, who previously served as a student assistant coach with the CMS women's basketball team while attending Claremont McKenna, is in his second season with the Athenas staff in 2026-27.
In his first year in an assistant role, Smith helped the Athenas to their first SCIAC Tournament title in nine years in 2026. CMS finished 20-8 in 2025-26, a 10-year improvement from the year before.
In his role as a student assistant, Smith helped conduct scouting reports, provide in-game insights and adjustments, and conducted individual player and group workouts to enhance skill development.
Smith graduated from Claremont McKenna in 2025 with a degree in science management with a sequence in environmental analysis.
