Sidney Smith enters his second season with the Athenas staff in 2026-27 after being promoted to a full-time assistant role in July.
In his first year on the staff, Smith helped the Athenas to their first SCIAC Tournament title in nine years in 2026. CMS finished 20-8 in 2025-26, a 10-year improvement from the year before, and were just one game behind regular season champion Cal Lutheran in the standings, before defeating the Regals in the conference finals.
In his role as a student assistant, Smith helped conduct scouting reports, provide in-game insights and adjustments, and conducted individual player and group workouts to enhance skill development.
Smith graduated from Claremont McKenna in 2025 with a degree in science management with a sequence in environmental analysis. In addition to his coaching duties, Smith will assist with games management for other CMS events when the Athenas are not in season.
