CMS Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie on Senior Day

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team honored its 10 seniors prior to the contest with UC Santa Cruz and played to a 0-0 tie in a non-league game in its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Pritzlaff Field.

CMS ends the regular season at 12-3-2 as it heads into postseason play as the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament, hosting Occidental in a semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. UC Santa Cruz played to its ninth tie of the season and now stands at 6-1-9 on the year.

The Stags hit the woodwork four times during the game, including twice by John Laidlaw in a span of 30 seconds, while seniors Lukas Huntington and Luca Wahlberg were inches from Senior Day goals as well, with Huntington's saved off the post by UC Santa Cruz goalie Chris Jamrok for one of his six saves. Nate Kim had one save for CMS in the first half in a Senior Day start, while Daniel Kotkosky had five in the second half in relief.

Tommy Brown, Liam Hall, Salvador Leon, Nico Del Villar, Rafael Otero, Jacoby Lockman, and Luca Wahlberg were honored for Senior Day prior to the contest, along with Huntington, Wahlberg and Kim.

CMS will host Occidental on Thursday after two high scoring games with the Tigers during the regular season, winning at home 3-2 and tying on the road 3-3. Redlands will be the top seed and will host the other semifinal against the winner of the first-round game between Cal Lutheran and Chapman, with the championship game hosted by the higher seed on Saturday.
