CLAREMONT, Calif. - Alisha Chulani and Ella Brissett won a dramatic semifinal in doubles over Kiana Brady and Christine O'Brien of Redlands to earn their way through to the championship match of the ITA West Regionals on Sunday morning.

Chulani and Brissett won the tiebreaker 7-5 to move on to meet top-seeded Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey of Pomona-Pitzer at 9 a.m. at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

The Athenas did not have anyone advance through in singles as Chulani fell 11-9 in the third set tiebreaker to Markey in the quarterfinals. Chulani took the first set 6-4, but Markey bounced back to edge out Chulani in the second set 7-5 and then got the final two points after the third-set tiebreaker was knotted 9-9.

Emily Ing and Rebecca Kong made it through to the doubles quarterfinal with an 8-7 win over Maegan Deng and Deja Brown of Redlands, but fell to Markey and Zhou 8-5 in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Ing and Kong trailed 7-2, but battled back to put some pressure on the top seed before falling.

Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne and Muduo Zhou also advanced to the quarterfinals before falling on Saturday morning to Annique Varty and Nyakiriri Kanefu of Pomona-Pitzer.

Chulani and Brissett guaranteed themselves a trip to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia by advancing through to the final.
