Rebecca Kong and
Ananya Sriniketh both took three-set wins in singles, and Kong teamed with
Lindsay Eisenman for a straight-set win in doubles, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps representatives all opened ITA Cup play with victories on Thursday to move on to Friday's quarterfinal rounds.
Sriniketh regrouped after falling 6-1 in the first set to No. 4 seed Emily Kantrovitz of Emory to take the second and third sets 6-4, 6-4. She will advance to the quarterfinal round tomorrow against Eliana Hanna of defending national champion WashU.
Kong was able to dominate the third set of her match against Sarena Biria of the University of Chicago, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. She will advance to play Izabele Antanavicius of Emory, who is the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
Eisenman and Kong, who are seeded second, defeated Sahana Madala and Claire Loftus of Johns Hopkins 6-4, 6-3. They will move on to face Matia Cristiani and Alessandra Sikharulidze of Babson. Cristiani has been part of the last two NCAA Division III championship teams in doubles with Olivia Soffer, who graduated last year.
