ROME, Ga. - Ananya Sriniketh and Rebecca Kong both captured comeback three-set thrillers in singles, and Kong and Lindsay Eisenman earned a straight-set win in doubles, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team improved to 6-0 at the ITA Cup with three quarterfinal wins on Friday at the Rome Tennis Center.

Sriniketh had an epic battle in singles with Eliana Hanna of defending national champion WashU, which came down to a third-set tiebreaker. She fell in the first set 6-1, but then bounced back to control the second set with a 6-2 win. The tiebreaker went into extra points, but Sriniketh was able to come through under pressure for a 9-7 win to move on to the semifinals.

Sriniketh will next face the top seed, Matia Cristiani of Babson, in the semifinal round tomorrow. The potential remains for an Athena vs. Athena championship as well, as Kong also came back for a three-set win in singles, defeating the No. 3 seed, Izabele Antanavicius of Emory, by a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 score.

After finishing her three-set singles win, Kong joined Eisenman for a dominant win over Cristiani and Alessandra Sikharullidze of Babson, 6-4, 6-2. They will next face the No. 3 seed, Iris Berman and Emily Kantrovitz of Emory.

The other SCIAC entrant, Elina Shalaev and Greta Nagy of Occidental, also advanced to the semifinals and will face a team from Johns Hopkins, creating the potential for a rematch of the ITA West Regional Championship match, which Kong and Eisenman won.

The semifinals get underway with singles tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time (6 a.m. Pacific), with doubles taking place at 3:30 p.m. local time. To follow all of the ITA Cup draws, visit the tournament home page below:
