SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team opened up the 2025-26 season with a double dual hosted at UC San Diego, and fell to the host Tritons 124-72, and to Simon Fraser 127-78.
Sun Young Byun had the top individual race for the Athenas, coming in second in the 100 fly in 55.53, behind only Eva Boelkhe of Division I UC San Diego in 54.16.
Mackenzie Mayfield was fourth in 56.97, and
Annika Sharma also came in under a minute in 59.04.
Deanna Wen was the top Athena in the 50 free in her college debut, finishing in 24.48 to edge out
Madeleine Kan by .12.
Olivia Hoyla was the top CMS finisher in the 100 back in 1:00.62, while
Elyse Newlands was top Athena in the 100 breast in 1:06.52, finishing ahead of every Simon Fraser swimmer as well.
The CMS 400 yard freestyle relay team closed out the meet by finishing fourth overall, with Sharma, Wen, Byun and Kan clocking a 3:33.67.
CMS will be back in action in two weeks for another double dual against Azusa Pacific and Biola.
