Stags Soccer Falls on the Road to Chapman in 2025 Finale

ORANGE, Calif. - Penn Kaplan gave the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, but Chapman was able to tie it before the half and win it on a penalty kick with 14:59 left to take a 2-1 win over the Stags on Saturday afternoon at Chapman Stadium.

The loss concludes the CMS season with a 4-10-6 overall record and a 3-5-4 mark in the SCIAC. Chapman improves to 6-6-4 overall and 5-4-3 in the SCIAC wiht the win.

Kaplan scored his goal off of assists from Sean Lee and Collin Ross at the 17:30 mark of the first half to stake the Stags to a 1-0 lead in a game it needed to win to qualify for the SCIAC Tournament.

Evan Crowfield knotted the game up at the 32:47 mark for the Panthers, and then Dylan Paine converted a penalty kick at the 75:01 mark.

Chapman finished with an 11-9 edge in shots, as Miles Demarest had four saves for the Stags.

CMS will look to bounce back from an injury-plagued 2025 season next year, and return to the form that saw it reach the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
