CLAREMONT, Calif. - The No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team took on No. 21 Redlands in a non-conference battle on Saturday and came away with a 5-2 win to move to 3-0 on the season.
CMS dominated in doubles, with
Lindsay Eisenman and
Ella Brissett teaming for a 6-1 win at No. 2, which was followed by
Rebecca Kong and
Alisha Chulani winning 6-1 at No. 1. Celestina Cedille-Vayson de Pradenne and
Muduo Zhou then capped it off with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Kong breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, and
Emily Ing took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. Zhou then gave CMS the clinch with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5.
The top of the lineup saw three tight battles, and
Ella Brissett was able to take the first of the three with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 win to make the score 5-0. Redlands took the final two points with Kiana Brady winning the third set 11-9 at No. 2 and Maegan Dang winning the third set at No. 1 by a 10-5 score.
CMS will be back in action when it travels to the ITA Indoor Nationals this Friday-Sunday.
