CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Reid Jones of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for games through Sunday, Feb. 2, the SCIAC announced today.
Jones had 11 steals combined in two CMS wins last week, as the Stags kept pace with Cal Lutheran atop the league standings. He began the week with five steals (and two blocks) while scoring a career-high 22 points as the Stags won at Occidental on Monday.
The five steals tied his career high, but he broke it at home on Saturday with six, to help CMS to a home win over Caltech. He now has 16 steals in his last three games, including five in a double-overtime win at Pomona-Pitzer last weekend, to increase his average to 2.2 thefts per game on the year.
CMS will be back in action when it travels to Redlands on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
