GRINNELL, Iowa -
Izzy Doud earned the NCAA Region 2 Championship in the three-meter dive on Saturday, taking the title by 19.5 points over Ren Watt of Emory, while
Meilan Uyeno qualified for nationals by finishing fourth for the second day in a row.
Doud finished the three-meter event with a 458.90, ahead of of the 439.40 from Watt, while Uyeno also broke 400 with a 412.60.
Doud qualified for the NCAA Championships on Friday with a third-place finish on the one-meter with a 418.40, 9.95 points behind champion Ariana Khan of Emory. Her score was also just 2.3 points ahead of Uyeno, who was in solid, but uncertain shape to qualify heading into Saturday's action.
Uyeno, though, was able to leave nothing to chance and secured one of the six invitationals to nationals by coming in fourth for the second straight day. She will make her second straight trip to the NCAA Championships in her first two seasons.
Alexis Romero added a top-10 finish on the one-meter on Friday, coming in eighth out of 23 divers with a 390.55.
Josie Kearns was 11th out of 22 on the three-meter with a 368.20.
Doud and Uyeno will join nine swimmers to give CMS women's swimming and diving 11 representatives at the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro later this month.
