Valerie Wraith each had hat tricks as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team cruised to a 20-1 win over Redlands on Saturday.
With the win, CMS moves to 10-8 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC, remaining unbeaten after taking down Cal Lutheran at home on Wednesday.
Jordan LaCour,
Tatum Dwyer, and Isabel Del Vullar each had two goals and
Fiona Murphy,
Jasmine Tang,
Elise Power,
Tonanxochitl Ortega and
Caitlin Muñoz added goals as 11 different Athenas found the net on the day, while Syndey Kroonen and
Dara Schoolcraft earned assists.
CMS took a 10-0 lead, with five goals in the first quarter and the first five in the second before Redlands found the net. Wraith had a hat trick in the first quarter alone to stake CMS to a 5-0 lead, while LaCour started the scoring to make it 1-0, and Clark added one in the opening frame as well.
Ortega started the second quarter with a goal, and Dwyer capped off the run with two straight to make it 10-0 with 2:15 left in the half. Marlow had three CMS goals in a row in the second half, including one with three seconds left in the third quarter.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Whittier for a 7 p.m. contest.
