CLAREMONT, Calif. - Graduate student
AJ Rohosy earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced this week.
Rohosy, who was named a second-team All-America by D3hoops.com over the weekend, is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced next month. The Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes who combine athletic success with high academic achievement.
Rohosy graduated from Washington State in only three years while maintaining a 3.97 GPA, and is currently pursuing his MBA at Claremont Graduate University. He has one year of eligibility remaining with the Stags for next year.
On the court, Rohosy averaged a double-double with 21.3 points and 10.5 rebounds, while setting a new program record for field goal percentage in a season at 64.8 percent (228-352). He earned the Most Outstanding Player of the SCIAC Tournament, when he had 28 points and 11 rebounds in a championship game win over Cal Lutheran, including the winning basket with 10 seconds left.
Rohosy helped CMS to the SCIAC Tournament championship and its second straight NCAA Division III Tournament berth, when the Stags fell in double overtime to Ramapo, despite his 24-point, 20-rebound effort.
